House Fire

It's been forever since I've written here. With all that I'm going through I thought it might help me to write about it.
The yellow tulips by the decorative well are in stark contrast to the devastation left by fire Saturday morning to this Grant Shook Road home.

You never think something like this will ever happen to you. This picture in no way shows how bad it is...and the worst is I lost my baby girl Gemma. She was my dog but felt more like one of our kids. Everything else can be replaced but her. Nothing could be salvaged out of the house. A lot of my yarn wasn't burned but the smoke smell is impossible to get out of it. Hundreds and Hundreds of dollars in yarn, if not thousands...and I'm down to not even one roll. Hard to believe. Not to mention the blankets that were almost finished..and those finished..such a waste. Of course when I mention that to my children or husband they look at me like I'm crazy but I know you all will understand.

Here's the article from the paper to go along with the picture that was in the paper above.

Hose Company received the call at 7:55 a.m. for 13013 Grant Shook Road.

The three adults and two teenagers escaped, but a dog was lost in the blaze, said assistant fire chief Dave Hann.
The cause of the fire is believed to be a space heater behind a couch in the living room. Hann said the home was a total loss.
Two firefighters received non-life threatening injuries. Both were transported to Chambersburg Hospital. One was treated for a back injury and released that day, the other was treated for chest pains and held overnight.
Hann said the fire was under control in 45 minutes and firefighters were on the scene for four hours. Aid came from Wayesboro, Marion, Franklin, Chambersburg, Mercersburg, Maugansville, Long Meadow, Halfway and Washington County crews.
The family was assisted by the American Red Cross
